The Rod:

We invite into the J Higley Rod shop where your custom quality rods are made. Are blanks are purchased from Batson Enterprises in Sequim WA. The owners of this company have been building rods for themselves for several years and know what type of composition is required in the rod materials.
The Process:
For those who are interested in what it takes to make a custom rod by hand we will share some pictures of the process. We start with the 'raw' blank
1- First check for the spine of the rod
2- Determine what type of handle and reel seat is needed
3- Mark out placement of the guides
4- Determine the guides and tip top to be used
5- Glue the blank into the handle and reel seat
6- Glue the tip top on
7- Begin the wrapping process
8- Apply poly to the rod
9- Place on rotating drying rack for 4 hours
10- Let poly process for 24 hours after drying.
